Slam Jam presents a special party with Know Wave, interlacing the worlds of two cultural pioneers with an evening of good jams and good vibes. ABOUT // KNOW WAVE
KNOW WAVE is an experimental platform – a virtual and physical place for happenings and performances, translating the atmosphere of the gallery.
KNOW WAVE broadcasts live from its hub in New York City and features a no-format format of organic programming to include special guest hosts, book and zine launches, among other events. Intentionally built to utilize the immediacy of social media platforms, KNOW WAVE’s hosts and guests revolve around random connections that arise from OHWOW’s community of artists and friends. Recent shows include: James Cruickshank and Simonez Wolf hosting “Diners Club”; Alex Olson’s “A.O. Show”; Kembra Pfahler’s “Performance 101”; and Lucien Smith’s “Night Owl.”
“KNOW WAVE is a natural extension of OHWOW. It’s another way to continue a dialogue with our community, and to broadcast cultural schmutz.”- Aaron Bondaroff
Alex Olson (Bianca Chandôn – Call Me 917)
Not only the founder of Bianca Chandôn, but also a pro skater, artist and DJ, Alex Olson has become increasingly active in the NYC music scene in recent years, hanging out and djing with friends including Eric Duncan from Rub ’N Tug. Last fall, Mr. Olson released a dance EP ’&Co. Best Of Friends’ in a collaboration with Paul Takahashi of Sarcastic Disco and the composer Alberto Bof. “It’s like an early ’90s dance record that feels modern,” Mr. Olson said. Mr. Olson noticed a similarity between the rule-breaking worlds of vogueing and skateboarding: “Some people consider skateboarding a sport, but I judge it more like dance. Skating is like voguing: Whoever has the best style wins the competition.”
Paul T (Sarcastic)
Paul Takahashi, aka Paul T is not just a DJ; but it’ much more than that. He is a curator of live musical experiences, which more often than not doesn’t even put him behind turntables. Paul T understands sound and vibration at the deepest level and knows musical talent the second he hears it, the second he sees it. Paul T might be known for “bringing” DJ Harvey to the States and and with him started the LA’s highly acclaimed Dj Harvey Sarcastic Disco events. Paul helped mature and foster a scene of serious disco music aficionados and veteran partiers who come out of the woodwork to celebrate the Disco warehouse spirit.
