SLAM JAM PRESENTS BUFFALO ZINE MERCHANDISE COLLECTION, DESIGNED BY CHRISTOPHER SHANNON

January 15th Slam Jam presents in its Milan space the new project in collaboration with Buffalo Zine and Christopher Shannon.
The three players collaborated together to create the magazine merchandise collection, a four items capsule with Christopher Shannon’s playful graphics and irrevent Buffalo Zine touch.

Buffalo Zine’s 4th and new issue is about sentimental materialism around the concept of Desire. Buying and selling, business, advertising, marketing, possessing, collecting, and many other terms. The atmosphere is strictly linked to old Postal Market catalogues, and fashion concepts are immaginate as advertising and commercial spots with their irreverent, defiant sensibility.

 

THE COLLECTION

Made by two t-shirts, a sweatshirt and a tote bag, the collection features messages with a sarcastic take on the language of advertising, marketing, and mass consumption. Playfully ironic pro-consumerism slogans using the most popular drinks graphics are printed in floc, as a 80s touch.

The collection will be available at SlamJam Milano and SlamJamSocialism.com.

 

THE FASHION MOVIE

The fashion story and promotional short film is shot by Sharna Osborne, a filmmaker with a background in Fine Art. Originally from New Zealand, she’s currently based in London. Her work has been seen in the pages of 032c, Dazed, i-D, Man About Town, GQ and previous clients include Jonathan Saunders, McQ, Prada and Meadham Kirchhoff.

The concept for the film and fashion story follows the catalogue path recreating a parody of an American style teleshopping channel. We are selling the collection products so the video is real, but the mood is a bit silly and over the top.

ABOUT CHRISTOPHER SHANNON

Christopher Shannon is a London-based fashion designer specialising in menswear. Shannon graduated from Central Saint Martins with a MA in Menswear, and after working with the designers Judy Blame, Kim Jones, William Baker, and the fashion label Helmut Lang, he launched his business at the end of the first decade of the 2000s.

In 2010 the fashion journalist Charlie Porter named him as a key british designer for his contemporary, colour-blocked streetwear-influenced pieces. His work combines elements of masculine sportswear with unexpected details such as traditionally feminine frills, folklore influences, or patchwork and embroidery.

He has been shortlisted for the Emerging Menswear Award at the British Fashion Awards and the LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize, and been involved in the innovative MAN, NEWGEN and Fashion Forward sponsorship schemes.
